Effie Lee Morris Award

The essay “And Now for the Beloved Trees” won an Effie Lee Morris Award in the non-fiction category, sponsored by the Women’s National Book Association, San Francisco Chapter

H. L. Onstad’s fiction has been a finalist and longlisted for Solstice Magazine’s Annual Literary Contest and longlisted for the Virginia Woolf Short Fiction Award. Her short story, A New Country for a New Woman, will be anthologized in Simpsonistas vol. 6 (Rare Bird, 2024). Her essays and reviews have appeared or are forthcoming in Zyzzyva, Harvard Review and HA Journal, a publication of the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College. She is the recipient of an Effie Lee Morris Award from the Women’s National Book Association (San Francisco chapter), an Advisory Board Award and an Alumni Scholarship from Saint Mary’s College of California, and financial support from Community of Writers. She is the communications director for New Literary Project.
